Immigrants' Assistance Center

The Immigrants Assistance Center strives to be the community’s beacon of hope through promoting equality, diversity, inclusion, and dignity for all immigrants, migrants, and refugees who come through our doors.

Our diverse community is one where everyone has an equal opportunity to thrive.

legal services

We assist with the completion of forms and translations for applications including Special Immigrant Juvenile Visas; Trafficking Visas; N-400 Applications for Naturalization; N-600 Applications to Document U.S. Citizenship; I-90 LPR (Green) Card Renewals; U-Visas, and DACA renewals.

AMIGOS Youth program

Is for all students, regardless of race, gender identification, or nationality, who need assistance with healthcare, educational needs, food, housing, translation, and/or legal services.
Our program has been housed in the New Bedford Public Schools since 2014, but we are no longer exclusive as the needs have grown in our community. We have a dedicated case manager and offer language and culturally sensitive mental health assistance to the youth in our program.

Healthcare for all/medical debt

We have 2 Certified Application Counselors (CAC) full-time to assist with translations and assistance with acquiring/changing/clarifying healthcare needs and work with providers and MassHealth on benefits. In addition, we are a designated provider of information on assistance with Medical Debt and we are here to help families navigate the system in their native languages.

Elder services

We have the only Portuguese language elder community group in Bristol County and they meet twice a week for fun, fellowship, and cultural and educational programming. With more than 50 participants depending on the day, our Elder group has organized a choir to visit assisted care homes locally and enjoys museum trips, outings, food, and games. We also have a dedicated LCSW to provide psycho-social programming to assist with isolation, depression, and anxiety in both a solo and group setting. In addition, we have two SHINE counselors who assist with elder healthcare needs.
