Massachusetts Design, Art, and Technology Institute (DATMA) presents impactful contemporary art at the intersection of design, art, and technology, combined with related community learning experiences, to spark creativity, collaboration, and economic innovation in the SouthCoast region and beyond.
DATMA is committed to bringing world-renowned art, design, and technology exhibitions, programs, and initiatives to the sidewalks and streets of SouthCoast, Massachusetts. Identified as one of the Commonwealth’s most creative economies by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, DATMA has a headquarters in New Bedford where it works with talented artists and organizations on collaborative projects that leave you inspired and energized.
DATMA Design Days is a free workshop series that invites participants of all ages to explore their creativity through hands-on “design and engineering challenges” held across New Bedford. The annual series often aligns with the City’s monthly AHA! programming and partners with local organizations to
engage the community in the creative process. (Summer & Fall, all ages)
DATMA In the Classroom brings local art and design mentors into local classrooms to lead interactive workshops with students, sharing insights from their daily work and professional experiences. Participants explore various disciplines, including design, art history and theory, and technology. Topics range from 3D printing and textile design to structural installations and the creative process of developing concepts and selecting mediums. (This program is not open to public.)
