At the Buzzards Bay Coalition, our mission is clear: to safeguard Buzzards Bay by preserving its lands, advocating for its protection, conducting rigorous scientific research, and inviting everyone to experience the great outdoors through our programs and reserves. We believe that by sharing knowledge and fostering a love for nature, we can empower you to become champions for the environment, ensuring a brighter future for Buzzards Bay and beyond.

Programs include:

Onset Bay Center in Onset, MA

Onset Bay Center offers high-quality, on-the-water programs. Through a variety of outdoor activities such as sailing, paddling, rowing, shellfishing, and much more, the center helps community members of all ages build a personal connection with our local environment. Year-round youth programs include afterschool clubs, weekend classes & excursions, and summer youth programs with scholarship opportunities available.

Bay Adventures

Bay Adventures are free guided activities that take place at our reserves using trails, rivers, and beaches across the watershed and include a variety of hands-on, outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing, and more. Visit the website activity calendar for year-round programs for youth and families.

Group Field Trips

The Coalition is redefining the classroom by offering students at New Bedford Public Schools and New Bedford summer youth programs the opportunity to turn their local environment into a living classroom at Buzzards Bay Coalition conservation properties.  Outdoor learning trips are designed to build upon classroom lessons to engage in real-life scientific field work, increase student confidence outdoors, and foster a sense of connection with natural spaces along the bay and watershed. Field trips for groups up to 30 students are free of cost and available year-round at The Sawmill in Acushnet, Onset Bay Center, and other BBC reserves.
